Photoshop Techniques

The following is a list of our favorite photoshop techniques. Use the dropdown menu to find an answer quickly.

Resize
Image --> Image Size

Rotate
Image --> Rotate Canvas

Exposure Correction Using "Levels"
Image --> Adjustments --> Levels
Why Use It? To control the brightness and contrast




Saving For The Web
An easy way to save images in a web-friendly format.

Try "JPEG" and "High" and see how many "K" it is and howlong it will take to download. Try to keep your pictures under 75K.

Tip: .JPG for pictures and .GIF for drawings.

Tip: If you like it, save it. You'll thank me later.

Saving As
File-->Save As

Copy a Layer
In the "Layers" pallete, drag the Layer you want to copy to the notepad icon at the bottom of the pallete.


Tip: Always save an original layer. You'll thank me later.

Fill
Edit --> Fill

Opacity
On the "Layer" pallete, click the arrow next to "Opacity"


Color Balance
Image-->Adjustments-->Color Balance

Note: You can adjust the shadows, midtones and highlights by selecting them at the bottom of the box.

Keyboard Shortcuts
Deselect - Ctrl+D
Undo - Ctrl+Z
Zoom In - Ctrl +
Zoom Out - Ctrl -
Freestyle Magnifier - Ctrl+Spacebar (Zoom In) Alt+Spacebar (Zoom Out)
